Job Opportunity

Job Title: Principal / Senior RF Design Engineer
Locations: Colorado
Industry: Wireless
Type: Full-time, Perm

Their broad industry focus includes military, mission critical, industrial, municipal utility (Oil & Gas, Power, Water), telemetry, voice and video communications, and other emerging industries. Contributions:

  • Leadership in system-level design work and RF design.
  • Design & development of data radio products, providing significant contributions from concept thru production.
  • Writing RFQ’s for components, also testing / analyzing component samples.
  • Act as a technical resource, building strong relationships both internally and externally.
  • Strive for quality in every task, drive continuous improvement & root cause analysis.
  • Provide design leadership, share information with peers, teach/mentor others; foster a positive & respectful work environment.

Capabilities:

  • BS EE or MS EE preferred.
  • 10+ years industry experience in RF design.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and developing data radios from concept through production on multiple products, also having contributed to system- level designs.  
  • Direct design experience for GFSK, QASK, and QAM systems.
  • An understanding of wireless standards and protocols such as CDMA, OFDM, Wi-Fi, WiMAX, TDMA, Bluetooth, Zigbee, and FDMA systems.
  • Track record using a mix of discrete RF components and integrated circuits.
  • Strong understanding of radio system design.
  • Deep understanding of the tradeoffs at both the design and system level to achieve a product that meets specifications.
  • Proven design experience in: receivers, transmitters, synthesizers, VCO’s, lumped element filters, and power conditioning circuits.
  • Deep understanding of the tradeoffs within each subsystem with respect to overall radio system performance, power efficiency, cost, and schedule.
  • Experience designing with manufacturability and test in mind.
  • Experience taking products from R&D into production.
  • Must be US citizen or permanent resident to be considered for this position.  
  • Other relevant knowledge, experience, and skills:
    • Radio System-Level Experience: cascade analysis, ADS system simulations, power budget analysis, and reliability analysis.
    • Receiver technology, including the design or integration of: RF filtering; LNA; image filtering; mixer integration; IF filtering; IF amplifiers; IF IC integration; pin diode switching.
    • Transmitter technology, which includes the design or integration of: power amplifiers (up to 5W), gain stages, TR switches, and filtering.
    • Synthesizer technology: synthesizer IC integration, discrete VCO, loop filter, and PLL simulation and design.
    • Simulation experience: in one of the core commercial RF simulators (ADS preferred).
    • EM simulation experience: (2D).
    • Competent in operating test equipment: spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, modulation domain analyzer, oscilloscope, noise figure meter, DMM, LCR Meter, and soldering down to 0402 level components.
